Malang, East Java – The Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Malang Regency Branch (PCNU) has secured a landmark achievement in Islamic endowment management, with nearly 4,000 out of 6,000 waqf (endowment) lands in the region now officially certified. The announcement was made during a halalbihalal gathering and waqf certification socialization event hosted by NU’s Legal Entity Body (BHPNU) in Pakisaji District.

KH Hamim Kholili, Chair of PCNU Malang Regency, emphasized that the certification drive—supported by the National Land Agency (BPN) and local governments—aims to strengthen legal protection for waqf assets, preventing disputes or inheritance claims.
"Once endowed, these lands cannot be sold or inherited. Certification ensures their perpetual use for mosques, schools, pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), and public cemeteries," he stated.
With 2,000+ remaining waqf lands undergoing deed finalization (Akta Ikrar Wakaf), PCNU targets full certification by 2026. Malang Regency now leads East Java—and potentially Indonesia—in waqf land formalization.
"If not completed this year, God willing, we’ll finish by next year," added Kiai Hamim.
The initiative aligns with PCNU Malang’s broader efforts to consolidate assets for religious and social programs, reinforcing NU’s role in community development.
