Surabaya, East Java — The Erie Soedewo Hall at LLDIKTI Region VII Surabaya hosted a strategic dialogue between central government officials and leaders of East Java’s private universities (PTS), focusing on concrete steps to elevate higher education quality and align with Indonesia’s Golden 2045 vision through Asta Cita—the eight national missions set by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The discussion emphasized the fourth pillar of Asta Cita: strengthening human capital through education, science, technology, health, gender equality, and youth empowerment. Private universities were urged to play a pivotal role in advancing these goals, particularly in boosting Indonesia’s gross enrollment rate (GER), which currently stands at just 32%.
Attendees included Prof. Najib, Director of Institutional Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education, and Prof. Dyah Sawitri, Head of LLDIKTI Region VII, alongside 15 PTS leaders.
LLDIKTI Region VII, recently awarded at the 2024 Anugerah Diktisaintek for excellence, reaffirmed its commitment to quality-centric governance in private universities.
"We’re building a structured quality framework—from processes to outcomes—to ensure tangible impacts on education standards," stated Prof. Dyah.
Prof. Najib acknowledged the critical role of PTS in widening access to education and pledged to integrate feedback into national policy:
"These inputs aren’t just for evaluation—they’ll shape policies with real-world impact, particularly in research and human resource development." The ministry will draft reforms to optimize PTS contributions, including streamlined PJJ permits and incentives for cross-institutional collaboration.
